South Carolina had little trouble getting past Georgia. Here’s what stood out from the game.

– On Tuesday I asked if Tessa Johnson would get more aggressive. She definitely answered that question with a yes. Johnson scored just seven points on 2-8 shooting in the last two games. On Thursday she had 12 points on 5-8 shooting.

Like I said before, Johnson is too good not to be more assertive. She passed up a few shots on Thursday but was much better about taking the shots that were there. She also had nice chemistry with Joyce Edwards.

– A couple of weeks ago, Dawn Staley said she was trying to force Maryam Dauda into the reserve post role. It wasn’t successful, and it’s fair to say that experiment is over. Sakima Walker was first off the bench against Auburn, and Adhel Tac played three minutes in the first half on Thursday.

Tac’s results are mixed. Her size (6-6 and heavy enough that I felt the thud when she fell) is so tantalizing, but she doesn’t take advantage of it.

Tac’s teammates seem to adore her and they want her to succeed. After Tac missed a layup, Raven Johnson put both hands on her shoulders and gave her a pep talk. On the next halfcourt possession, Johnson went right inside to Tac, drawing a foul. Having the support of her teammates is a good thing.

– Sania Feagin had six points, nine rebounds, a career-high five assists, three blocks, and two steals. Talk about filling up the box score, and she did it in front a large group of family and friends.

Feagin said that the five assists were the product of being a senior and understanding where her teammates were supposed to be. Feagin also talked about nearly being benched early in the season.

“I felt like I waited my turn, trusted the process, and I knew I could’ve contributed more and then started to do it,” she said.
