South Carolina’s season finale against Georgia, when the 2019 class will be honored on Senior Day, is officially a sellout.

The game will be South Carolina’s ninth sellout at Colonial Life Arena all-time, and the second of the season. The February 12 game against then-#3 LSU was also a sellout.

That game was a sellout because it feature the top two teams in the SEC and two of the best teams in the country, plus two of the top players in Aliyah Boston and Angel Reese. Georgia doesn’t bring that same resume, but it is the final home game for the 2019 class of Aliyah Boston, Zia Cooke, Brea Beal, Laeticia Amihere, and Olivia Thompson.

That group is responsible for the most successful period ever for the Gamecocks. They will be honored before the game.

This is the second time South Carolina has had two sellouts, in one season. South Carolina sold out games against UConn and Texas A&M in 2020, the freshman season for this year’s seniors.

South Carolina is 5-3 all-time in home sellouts. The Gamecocks have won four straight (2020 UConn, 2020 Texas A&M, 2022 Tennessee, and 2023 LSU). They were 1-3 in the first four, beating Kentucky in 2017 and losing to UConn (2016, 2018) and Mississippi State (2019).

With the exception of the 2020-2021 season, when attendance was limited to 3,500 due to the pandemic, South Carolina has had at least one sellout every season since 2017. During that time, South Carolina has also become the biggest television draw in the country, with four of the five most-watched games during the period, including the most-watched game ever on FOX.

South Carolina’s second sellout is also part of an attendance boom across the country. Indiana had its first sellout in program history last weekend, LSU hosted its largest crowd ever earlier in the season, and Iowa, Ole Miss, and Stanford are among numerous programs that have set attendance records this season.

With the sellout, South Carolina will finish the regular season with a total attendance of 199,619 and an average attendance of 13, 308. Both figures will lead the nation for the ninth consecutive season.
