The SEC released its conference schedule on Tuesday. Here are the five(-ish) games I am most looking forward to.

Sunday, January 4 – Ole Miss at Texas
Ole Miss has gone all in for this season with designs on joining the SEC’s upper tier. We won’t have to wait long to find out if it worked, since Ole Miss visits Texas on the first weekend of the season. The Rebels led the Longhorns in the fourth quarter last season in Oxford, but didn’t have the offensive punch to hold on. Transfer Cotie McMahon is supposed to fix that, but we shall see.

Thursday, January 15 – Texas at South Carolina
They met four times last season, and it’s possible they could meet four times this season, but currently, this is the only game on the schedule between the teams that shared last season’s SEC regular-season championship. The good news is that because this is the only game, we shouldn’t have to worry about another coin flip.

Thursday, January 22 – South Carolina at Oklahoma
South Carolina has played in Norman once before, in 2007, but this will be the first trip as conference foes. Oklahoma finished last season ranked 11th in the country and tied for fourth in the SEC, but there was a big gap between the Sooners and the teams above them. Oklahoma hosts LSU and South Carolina for back-to-back games with a chance to prove that the gap has closed. We also get to see two of the country’s top-ranked recruits, Aaliyah Chavez and Agot Makeer.

Sunday, January 11 – Texas at LSU
Thursday, February 5 – LSU at Texas
The SEC hasn’t gone easy on Texas for the Longhorns’ first two seasons, giving them South Carolina and LSU as their home-and-home opponent. It’s good for fans, though. Texas narrowly beat LSU in the regular season and the SEC Tournament last season. Can the Tigers break through this season? And could this lead to another coin flip?

Saturday, February 14 – South Carolina at LSU
If you’re one of the people still getting used to MiLaysia Fulwiley in an LSU uniform – which is probably everybody – this game will be surreal. They even moved it up to Saturday to make the storyline even better. Like exes on Valentine’s Day, both sides of the breakup will want to prove their new partner is better. Also, the basketball game between two of the SEC’s top teams should be important.
