South Carolina women’s basketball alum Tiffany Davis is getting a new gig. The former Gamecock and 2016-2017 national champion will be the next head women’s basketball coach at Abington Friends School. The school announced the move on social media.

Davis will look to revive the Jenkintown, Pennsylvania-based program that has struggled the past few years. She will fight to return the Roos to their form when they won a state title at the end of the 2019-2020 season.

Davis, a Texas native who signed with USC in the class of 2012, spent five seasons in garnet and black. She battled injuries during her career, limiting her to just 70 games over those five years. Davis earned eight starts but played 8.7 minutes per game for the Gamecocks. She averaged 1.9 points and one rebound at USC. She was also known as a great teammate and a high-character person.

Davis played her final season on head coach Dawn Staley’s first national championship squad. She saw action late in the title game that year against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Ultimately, injuries ended her career after that game as she forewent a final medical redshirt-enabled sixth season of eligibility.

During that championship season, Davis played with Gamecock greats like A’ja Wilson, Alaina Coates, Ty Harris, Allisha Gray, Kaela Davis, and Mikiah Herbert Harrigan. She was also a teammate of current South Carolina assistant coach Khadijah Sessions earlier in her career.
