South Carolina women's basketball: U19 World Cup Knockout stages begin Wednesday for Agot Makeer and Ayla McDowell

The knockout round of the FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup begins on Wednesday. Find out how to watch Gamecocks Agot Makeer and Ayla McDowell at the tournament.
The World Cup is played in Brno, Czechia. As a result, the first games of the day will have already been played by the time you read this (hooray for the replays).
You could also fly to Czechia like Dawn Staley, who is in Brno to watch Makeer and McDowell and recruit some unsigned players.
Makeer has come off the bench in all three games, but is Canada’s third-leading scorer. She is averaging 12.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists.
Makeer has played multiple positions, including point guard, and is an impressive 53.3% from behind the arc after making five straight against Nigeria.
McDowell is the fourth-leading scorer in the tournament, averaging 18.0 points. She is also averaging 6.0 rebounds and a tournament-best 4.0 steals. However, McDowell is shooting under 30% as Brazil has struggled.
Canada went undefeated in group play, beating Portugal 88-49, Nigeria 113-42, and China 115-52.
Brazil went 0-2 in group play, losing 83-47 to France and 87-59 to Australia. Mali was also supposed to be in Group C, but was unable to travel due to visa issues, so Brazil did not play a third game.
Canad and Brazil could meet in the quarterfinals if they both win or both lose on Wednesday.
There are no current Gamecocks on the Team USA roster. However, South Carolina is recruiting Saniyah Hall, who took her official visit in May, Kate Harpring, who took an unofficial visit last fall, and Sydney Douglas.
The United States is also undefeated, with wins of 134-53 over South Korea, 79-49 over Hungary, and 114-40 over Israel.
Team USA has not lost since the gold medal game of the 2017 World Cup, a streak of 21 games. If the United States goes undefeated again this year, it would set a new record with 26 consecutive victories.
