The WNBA has completed a week of preseason games, and teams are waiving players. Let’s recap the week for former Gamecocks.

South Carolina started the preseason with 12 players invited to training camp. After a week of preseason games, that number is down to 12.

Dallas waived Mikiah Herbert Harrigan on May 4. Herbert Harrigan appeared in one game and had an assist in four minutes during her lone preseason appearance.

Indiana waived Bree Hall on May 5. Hall played in one of Indiana’s two preseason games. She had nine points and four rebounds in her lone appearance.

The other players fighting for roster spots had solid games.

Te-Hina Paopao had seven points and four assists in her debut and looked comfortable playing point guard on both ends of the floor.

Sania Feagin had three points and an assist in her debut.

Zia Cooke had eight points and a rebound in her debut for Seattle.

Laeticia Amihere exploded for 20 points in 19 minutes against the Sparks.

The rest of the former Gamecocks shouldn’t have to worry about their roster spots.

Tyasha Harris did not play in the Wings’ preseason game with a sore knee, but has returned to practice.

Allisha Gray scored seven points to go with four rebounds and three assists in Atlanta’s preseason game.

Aliyah Boston had seven points and eight rebounds in her preseason debut. A day later, Boston had 11 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Kamilla Cardoso had six points and eight rebounds in Chicago’s first game. She added 10 points and seven rebounds against Minnesota.

Tiffany Mitchell has looked comfortable in Las Vegas. She had 10 points and two rebounds against Dallas and then four points and a rebound against Phoenix.

A’ja Wilson had quite a week. On the court, she picked up where she left off last season. In the Aces’ first game against the Wings, Wilson had 19 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in just 22 minutes. She followed that with 14 points, six rebounds, three assists, and three blocks against the Mercury.

Wilson also debuted her shoe (it sold out), and her commercials (with a third to debut later today), and topped ESPN’s list of the best players in the WNBA (it should be obvious, but fourth place).

Future Gamecock Ayla McDowell played two WNBA preseason games with the Brazilian national team. She had two points and two rebounds against Chicago, but shot 0-5. Against Indiana, McDowell had four points and four rebounds and looked more comfortable.
