Ashlyn Watkins will host her second annual basketball camp at Cardinal Newman on Saturday. There are two sessions: a morning session for kindergarten-5th grade, andand afternoon session for 6th-10th grade. Both sessions are open to boys and girls, an delimited tickets are still available for $65.

According to a release, the camp will offer attendees a chance to elevate their skills, featuring skill-building drills, fundamental instruction, fun basketball activities, and other surprises with Ashlyn Watkins and other hand-picked coaches on-site.

Watkins appeared on WIS-TV on Monday and talked about why the camp is important to her.

“I want to be there for the community, be there for the kids that go to my high school that I went to,” she said. “I love having this opportunity. It’s amazing. These kids look up to the South Carolina Gamecocks and I want them to be able to connect with me on a personal level, not just seeing me on the court.”

Raven Johnson has a meet and greet in Atlanta on August 17. The event is at Ulta Beauty at 1801 Howell Mill Road and is sponsored by Parfait Tailored Hair. Johnson signed a sponsorship deal with Parfait earlier this year. The deal includes her own line of wigs.

The new national champion license plates are now available at the South Carolina DMV. The plates have the 2024 championship logo and say “University of South Carolina Women’s Basketball 3x National Champions” across the top. The plates cost $70 every two years, with $40 supporting academic scholarships. Plates can be ordered on the SC DMV website.

Last weekend Joyce Edwards, Chloe Kitts, and Tessa Johnson were in Portland for the Nike Skills Academy. MiLaysia Fulwiley was in New York for the Under Armour Next Elite 24 Camp, where she was a mentor.

Camden continues to honor Joyce Edwards. On Tuesday, the gym at the Jackson Teen Center was renamed the “Joyce Edwards Training Facility.” The walls have been painted with murals honoring Edwards. One depicts her playing basketball, soccer, and volleyball. Another shows all the different jerseys she has worn in her career and a list of her awards and accomplishments.
