South Carolina’s non-conference schedule is slowly coming into focus.

Matchups and the bracket were released today for the Charleston Classic and paves South Carolina’s early-season MTE path. The tournament starts Nov. 17.

The Gamecocks are guaranteed three games in the classic, starting Thursday and going through Sunday. There is a break Saturday for teams.

The Gamecocks open play Thursday at 5 p.m. against Colorado State. The Rams are coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance but are losing David Roddy to the NBA.

ESPN will televise that game.

South Carolina will play either Davidson or College of Charleston Friday.

If the Gamecocks win, they’ll play at 5 p.m. on ESPN2. A loss moves them to a 7:30 p.m. ET tip on ESPN News.

Davidson was the No. 40 team in KenPom last season and won 27 games in legendary coach Bob McKillop’s final season. The Wildcats lost in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Charleston won 17 games in Pat Kelsey’s first season there, including an 8-10 mark in the Colonial Athletic Association.

The other side of the bracket includes Furman, Penn State, Old Dominion and Virginia Tech. South Carolina could face one of those teams Sunday.

Virginia Tech won the ACC Tournament last year and Furman played for the Southern Conference title.

The Paladins lost to Lamont Paris’s Chattanooga team on a buzzer-beater.

Both Penn State and Old Dominion finished with losing records last season.

The Gamecocks are in their first season under Lamont Paris, who took over at the end of March.

It’s been a solid offseason for Paris and his staff, the biggest news landing five-star forward GG Jackson recently.

South Carolina went 18-13 last season, 9-9 in the SEC, but is replacing a large chunk of last year’s roster.

The Gamecocks have to replace the entire starting five and their top six scorers from last season.

South Carolina brings in Jackson and also two other freshmen—Zach Davis and Daniel Sanford—with a wealth of transfer portal players.

Meechie Johnson, Hayden Brown, Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk and Ebrima Dibba all come over out of the portal.

Jav’Von Benson, Jacobi Wright, Tre-Vaughn Minott, Chico Carter Jr. and Josh Gray all return.
