South Carolina starter LaNorris Sellers was listed on Pro Football Focus’ initial top 10 college football quarterback rankings for the 2026 NFL Draft cycle. Sellers is eligible for the draft after the coming season, but enters 2025 with three years of eligibility.

The redshirt sophomore quarterback has already positioned himself among the top projected quarterbacks for 2025, ranking eighth among QBs in Heisman odds, sitting at +2000. Sellers also ranks in the same spot in On3’s top 100 players for the 2025 College Football season.

PFF saw things no differently, ranking Sellers at No. 8 on its list of quarterbacks. The placement of Sellers slotted the sophomore behind rival Clemson’s Cade Klubnik. Sellers is one of four Southeastern Conference quarterbacks to make the list, headlined by top-ranked Arch Manning.

PFF wrote that while many evaluators are high on Sellers, he struggled to read coverages. However, PFF still considers the quarterback to have a high ceiling.

“All the talent is there,” PFF’s Trevor Sikkema wrote. “But his 3.30-second average time to throw shows he is still learning how to read defenses pre- and post-snap.”

Sellers threw for 2,534 yards in his first year as the Gamecocks’ signal-caller, completing 196 of his 299 passes (65.6 percent) with 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also ran for 674 yards and seven touchdowns on 166 carries.

Sellers’ rushing ability earned him a 73.8 PFF rushing grade for 2024. However, the site ranks him second among the 10 ranked quarterbacks in turnover-worthy play percentage (4.7 percent).

His performances earned him Football Writers of America (FWAA) Offensive Freshman of the Year and SEC Freshman of the Year honors after the 2024-25 season. The redshirt freshman also picked up two SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors during the 2024 season, alongside two SEC Freshman of the Week honors.

Sikkema closed his analysis, saying some of Sellers’ mistakes could be expected from a quarterback in his first season as a full-time starter.

“But just because it can all come together doesn’t mean it will,” Sikkema wrote. “Let’s see it from Sellers — and if we do, he’ll shoot up this list.”

Sellers gets his first chance to showcase his improvement on August 31 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta against Virginia Tech. The Gamecocks and Hokies face off at 3 p.m. on ESPN.
