South Carolina men’s basketball is back on track after losing back-to-back games to Auburn and LSU. The Gamecocks routed Ole Miss on the road last Saturday and then beat Texas A&M on Wednesday to improve to 23-5 on the year.
South Carolina was lifted by the performance of Denmark (SC) native Zachary Davis. Davis stepped up playing over 30 minutes each in the two wins.

Davis took the time to join GamecockCentral’s The Hard Fowl on Thursday to talk about how the Gamecocks got back on track.
“I feel like we’re tough-minded, letting the past like the 40-point loss, the loss versus LSU, let that get behind us and just focus on the next week getting better. Going back to the basics and getting ready for the Ole Miss game,” Davis said.

At Ole Miss, South Carolina had one of their best performances on the road this season. It was a hard-fought 13-point win and Davis was a big part of the story. He finished the game with 14 points and also had nine rebounds.
The week without a midweek game seemed to work wonders for South Carolina.

“We had to change our whole mindset after losing those two games back to back and just come in with a fresh mindset and saying like, this Ole Miss game was gonna start us back up,” Davis said. “We got to go back to what it was doing before. And so it’s been a tough mindset. And I just believe and that’s really where we took that week off that we had going to the Ole Miss game.”
After that game, the Gamecocks went into College Station and took down the Aggies, 70-68. But it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Davis, who scored to go-ahead bucket with three seconds to play.
