Spencer Rattler accepts Senior Bowl invite

South Carolina senior quarterback Spencer Rattler has accepted an invite to the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
The official Gamecock football X/Twitter account posted a video on Monday of Rattler receiving his invite and hours later the official Senior Bowl account posted that Rattler had accepted it.
South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette also received an invite to the game this week and was named one of the semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, given annually to the top receiver in the country.
Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy has publicly spoken highly of Rattler multiple times this season and during an appearance on SEC Network during the Missouri game earlier this year teased that an invite could be on the way for Rattler.
“It is a loaded quarterback class for the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl. In South Carolina, Spencer Rattler will be squarely in the mix for an invite,” Nagy said then. “He’s one of the best pure pocket passers in this year’s class. If you give him time, he will absolutely pick you apart. He can rip NFL throws down the field, as we’ve seen him do all season to Xavier Legette.”

With one regular season game to go, Rattler has completed 259 of 367 passes for 3,074 yards with 19 touchdowns and 7 interceptions despite dealing with tons of pressure up front.
The former Oklahoma transfer now has over 10,000 passing yards in his career and has thrown for 6,100 yards and 37 touchdowns in his two seasons in Columbia.
“I think the issue for Spencer this year is he’s faced a lot of fast pressure, particularly off the edges, that’s made him move,” Nagy continued last month. “But for NFL evaluators, that’s been a good thing. I think they’ve seen more mobility out of Spencer. He’s gonna enter the draft process with over 40 career starts at the college level, which is huge. And he’s got some big games still left on the schedule, including today against a Missouri defense that has a lot of NFL talent on it, where he can prove to NFL scouts that he is a starter at the next level.”
Rattler and the Gamecocks will complete their regular season on Saturday night at Williams-Brice Stadium with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff against rival Clemson. SEC Network will carry the action.
