Sunday injury report for South Carolina vs. Clemson
One of the biggest goals for South Carolina in its matchup against Wofford on Saturday night was for the Gamecocks to exit the game as close to injury-free as possible.
And with one exception they did that in the 56-12 win over the in-state Terriers.
“Injury-wise, came out of it pretty good last night,” Beamer said Sunday on his teleconference. “Vandrevius Jacobs would be the only one that we’re a little concerned about as far as the guys that played in last night’s game. As far as the tight ends, we’ll see as the week goes about their availability.”

Jacobs, the redshirt freshman receiver who transferred in from Florida State, appeared to suffer a lower-body injury Saturday when he was tackled awkwardly and had to be helped off the field by trainers.
Of course, South Carolina is also still somewhat concerned about the status of a few key contributors who were already out going into the Wofford game, particularly at the tight end position.
Joshua Simon, Michael Smith, and Brady Hunt, the Gamecocks’ three primary tight ends for the entire year, were all banged up in the Missouri game to varying degrees and missed Saturday’s game.

Hunt has already been ruled out for the Clemson game but is expected to return for postseason play.
Beamer would only say “we’ll see” on Saturday and Sunday regarding the status of both Simon and Smith for the rivalry matchup.
Simon is South Carolina’s leading receiver with 31 catches for 433 yards and six touchdowns.

Junior wide receiver Jared Brown also missed the Wofford game but is expected to return this week.
“He actually had a little bit of a hand injury last week against Missouri. He’ll be fine for next week,” Beamer said on Saturday.
Head coach Shane Beamer will speak again on Tuesday afternoon when he will likely give an updated injury report. He is not, however, required to provide an official SEC player availability report this week since it’s not an SEC game.
While the annual Palmetto State showdown always carries weight in South Carolina, this year’s matchup has additional ramifications in that both teams are trying to make a late-season case for the College Football Playoff. Each is currently in the CFP Top 25 and will likely be in the Top 15 once the rankings are updated on Tuesday night.
The Gamecocks and Tigers are set for a noon kickoff in Clemson with ESPN carrying the action.
