Takeaways from Thursday's media availability with South Carolina transfers
On Thursday, nearly two dozen South Carolina transfers met with the media for the first time as Gamecocks. GamecockCentral will be uploading most of those interviews to our YouTube page both today and on Friday.
In the meantime, here’s a few takeaways from today:

– EDGE Gilber Edmond came across grateful after returning to play for South Carolina. He said things are going better than he expected and that the guys have welcomed him back with open arms
– RBs look at the loaded room as a chance to get better; didn’t want to shy away from competition because of who was coming in. Many of them have aspirations of playing at the next level and they felt like this will only bring out their best

– RB Rocket Sanders’ shoulder is feeling good. He’s not in a sling anymore and he’s making good progress from the injury that he sustained in his second to last game last season at Arkansas
– During the recruiting process, Rocket reached out to former Gamecocks TE Trey Knox to pick his brain about South Carolina. Having a chance to build a relationship with Knox during their time together in Arkansas, he deeply valued his input
– TE Brady Hunt is excited to work with coach Justin Stepp; believes he can help him take his route running to the next level. His ankle is feeling great, after it kept him from playing last year. Said it’s feeling close to 100 percent and that he’s starting to feel as good as he did the last time he played

– QB Robby Ashford didn’t want anything guaranteed to him. Has been impressed working with Dowell Loggains. Pointed out that it’s hard not to be excited after seeing the things Spencer Rattler did this past season and did this past week at the Senior Bowl

– OL Torricelli Simpkins shared that the coaches have told him they want him to compete for the center position but that they’ve also talked with him about cross training at guard. A Third Team All-American center, Simpkins has played guard before. Played two games at guard last year
– RB Oscar Adaway is ready to compete. Wants to do whatever he can to help the team in order to get out onto the field. As much as he enjoys running the ball, he stressed how much pride he takes with pass blocking, knowing that it can help his chances to see more playing time

– WR Jared Brown said that “WR” shouldn’t be next to his name but instead “ATH” because he feels like you can line him up anywhere on offense. At Coastal Carolina, he played both in the slot and out on the perimeter as a wide out but he also lined up in the backfield
– As excited as DB Gerald Kilgore is to play alongside his brother Jalon Kilgore, deciding to some to South Carolina was what he felt was best for him. Is excited to work with coach Torrian Gray because of the work he’s done with developing other defensive backs
