Tracker: Who's out for Notre Dame in the Gator Bowl
While South Carolina’s roster looks a little bit different than how it looked like a month ago, Notre Dame is dealing with some changes as well heading into the Gator Bowl.
Since the Irish’s last game on Nov. 26, the following players have either declared for the NFL Draft or have entered the transfer portal:
• Subscribe to Gamecock Central until the 2023 football season for only $10!
TE Michael Mayer — NFL Draft
EDGE Isaiah Foskey — NFL Draft
TE Cane Berrong — Transfer Portal
DL Jacob Lacey — Transfer Portal
CB Jayden Bellamy — Transfer Portal
QB Drew Pyne — Transfer Portal
EDGE Osita Ekwonu — Transfer Portal
WR Kaleb Smith — Transfer Portal
• Win a football autographed by Rattler, Emmanwori, Kroeger, and others
Of those eight, the three biggest losses for Notre Dame are Foskey, Mayer and Pyne. Foskey opting out of the Gator Bowl is a huge break for a USC that will be making some adjustments to their offense line. Foskey is considered one of the best pass rushers in this year’s NFL Draft and leaves ND as the program’s all-time sacks leader.

Pyne started in ten games at quarterback this season and played in 11 of ND’s 12 games this season. Sophomore QB Tyler Buchner is expected to start for the Irish. He started in ND’s first two games this season before a left shoulder injury led to him needing surgery and missing ND’s last ten games.

Mayer was one of the most productive tight end’s in Notre Dame history. That says something when a guy by the name of Mark Bavaro also shined there. According to ESPN’s Mel Kiper’s Big Board, Mayer is not only the No.1 prospect for his position in this year’s draft but he has him listed as No.8 overall.
As of Tuesday, here’s a look at Notre Dame’s current injury report:
CB Cam Hart — Out
TE Eli Raridon — Out
TE Kevin Bauman — Out
DT Jayson Ademilola — Questionable
WR Tobias Merriweather — Probable
CB TaRiq Bracy — Probable
