Two players from the state of South Carolina debuted as four-star prospects among the 100 listed in the On3 2026 Watch List, which was released on Monday.

Rock Hill (S.C.) South Pointe ATH J’Zavien Currence and Spartanburg (S.C.) Broome RB Jaylen McGill –two early priority South Carolina targets with offers from the Gamecocks — made the first watch list for the class, each debuting with a 90 rating.

The rating scale is as follows: Five-star prospects have grades 98-100, four-star recruits have grades 90-97, while 80-89 grades are for three-stars.

In this early ranking, all prospects are rated as low four-stars. The rankings are presented in a watch list format rather than in numerical order.

Currence is listed at 6-foot-2, 165-pounds but GamecockCentral saw him in person during the summer and appears to have easily added 20-plus pounds since that weight was recorded.

Currence has early offers from South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Florida State, UNC, and N.C. State, among many others, and may be the early favorite for top prospect in the state for the class.

Since Currence also holds a four-star rating from 247Sports, he already has an active rating in the On3 Industry Ranking, which averages the four major recruiting media services (at this point in time it’s just two, On3 and 247Sports).

Currence is ranked the No. 31 overall prospect in the class, the No. 3 safety, and the No. 1 prospect in South Carolina in that ranking system.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound McGill has early offers from South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech, landing an offer from the Gamecocks in May.

“It’s just a dream come true. I’ve been chasing this dream for a long time,” McGill told GamecockCentral.com at the time. “Every player’s dream is to go to the league, so I just look at it as a dream come true. I’m going to keep working because I know where my next stop’s going to be, where the final stop is.”

McGill has not yet been ranked by 247Sports.

The third in-state class of 2026 prospect with an offer from the Gamecocks is Saint Stephen (S.C.) Timberland IOL Desmond Green. Green did not make the initial Top 100 watch list but will surely be a highly recruited prospect.

The Gamecocks offered Green in June.

“I was eating dinner and my coach had called me,” Green explained to GamecockCentral. “He said he had got off the phone with Coach Teasley, the o-line coach. He told me South Carolina wanted to extend an offer, and I almost choked on my food a little bit. I started getting real excited. I had to go and run over to my parents, you know, let them hear the news as well. But it was really exciting because that’s something really big, South Carolina, it just really came out of the blue for me.”
