Two returning sluggers named D1 Baseball Preseason All-Americans
South Carolina’s Ethan Petry and Cole Messina were named preseason First Team All-Americans by D1 Baseball on Monday.
Both are coming off massive breakout seasons with the Gamecocks in 2023. Petry took the college baseball world by storm as a freshman, hitting .376/.471/.733 with 23 homers and 75 RBI.

Messina became South Carolina’s starting catcher in 2023 after not making much of an impact as a freshman. He hit .307/.428/.615 with 17 homers and 65 RBI.
South Carolina opens the 2024 campaign on Friday, Feb. 16 against Miami (Ohio) at Founders Park. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
