South Carolina continues to waste no time with their class of 2024 while also keeping another talented local player in state.

Four-star offensive tackle Josiah Thompson has announced his commitment to the Gamecocks. A product of Dillion High School, Thompson stands at just under 6-foot-7, 275 pounds.

And like we’ve said about a lot of these recent Gamecock commits, South Carolina was the first school to offer him. In fact, the previous coaching staff at USC originally offered him during his freshman season in November of 2020. Once Shane Beamer arrived, they wasted no time making it clear to Thompson that they still wanted him and offered him again. Meaning, he received two offers from South Carolina from different coaching staffs before any other school offered him. That loyalty paid dividends in his decision to pick the Gamecocks.

Ranked as the consensus No.5 offensive tackle in the country, he chooses USC over schools including Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Miami.

With Thompson’s commitment, South Carolina has now landed the three top prospects from the Palmetto State for the 2024 class. He joins fellow four stars, offensive tackle Kam Pringle from Woodland High School and Greenville High School wide receiver Mazeo Bennett. Greenville’s Blake Franks also recently committed to the Gamecocks. The offensive lineman is regarded as the eighth top prospect from the state.
