- Shane Beamer opens up the press conference by sharing how “awesome” it is to have the privilege to be here today after playing a role in Alshon’s recruitment a decade plus ago.
- Beamer shares that after a game when he worked under Steve Spurrier, Alshon received a game ball then Spurrier tossed Beamer a game ball for his role in recruiting him.
- Alshon said that he’s always took pride in being from South Carolina and knowing any time he stepped on the field that he was representing the student body, community, and the state.
- Alshon wants to be remembered as someone who left it all out there on the field. He said he wished they could’ve won a national title, an SEC title, but thinks he made a positive impact on those around him and the community.
- Alshon admits that he can’t say he’s sure that Lane Kiffin was the one who said the “pumping gas” comment. “I believe it was someone else that said that.”
- Is looking forward to tomorrow and said with a smile that me might cry a little.
