Video Breakdown: Pittsburgh transfer DT DeAndre Jules commits to South Carolina
You’ve heard me preach about South Carolina needing to add depth and experience at multiple positions this offseason. Well, more depth and more experience is on the way in the trenches with the commitment of Pittsburgh transfer defensive tackle DeAndre Jules.
Standing at 6-foot-3, 310-pounds, the Germantown (Maryland) Northwest product played in all 12 regular games this past season for Panthers. He also starting in six of them. Jules racked up 24 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, a pair of sacks, and a forced fumble in 2023. After redshirting in 2019, Jules has played in a total of 37 collegiate games. In those four seasons, he has accumulated 37 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks.

Listed as an EDGE prospect out of high school, Jules was ranked as a three-star prospect and as the 14th-best prospect in the state of Maryland for the class of 2019, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. This means he has one more of eligibility remaining, due to the 2020 COVID-19 season.
So what type of player is South Carolina gaining? According to his former head coach Pat Narduzzi, he can see Jules playing on Sundays. “I could see that guy playing in the NFL,” Narduzzi said this past preseason. “He’s big, he’s physical, he’s got a good pass rush.”
