There’s no place like home. Two weeks after G.G. Jackson committed to South Carolina, another Columbia native is opting to stay home to play for the Gamecocks.

Three-star power forward Collin Murray-Boyles, who most recently played for AC Flora has announced his commitment to play for Lamont Paris and South Carolina.

I mention most recently played for because the 6-7, 2023 prospect will play his senior season in Utah at Wasatch Academy. Wasatch Academy is regarded as the best basketball in the state of Utah. They play teams from all across the country and will play several games this season on ESPN.

The buzz surrounding Murray-Boyles has certainly picked up this. In a recent report from Gamecock Central’s Collyn Taylor, Taylor shared how the forward is in the midst of a very strong summer that has led to him receiving a handful of offers and interest from mid and high major programs.

In that same report, he went on to tell Taylor his takeaways on what he was looking for in a school. “Just a family environment,” said Murray-Boyles. “Just nothing toxic and no fake love.”

Murray-Boyles becomes the Gamecock’s first commitment for the class of 2023. He chooses USC over offers from schools including App State, New Mexico State, UNC Wilmington. In July, Georgia, Tennessee, Clemson and Virginia Tech were also beginning to show interest.
