Video Breakdown: Transfer DB Gerald Kilgore commits to South Carolina
After soaring up to No.4 in On3 Transfer Portal Rankings, South Carolina isn’t done taking advantage of the portal. And perhaps one of their biggest recruiters with their latest commitment, is arguably one of their best returning players too.
Tennessee Tech transfer defensive back Gerald Kilgore, the brother of South Carolina freshman All American Jalon Kilgore, has committed to Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks. A former quarterback, Kilgore made the move to defensive back and redshirted in 2022. This past season, he appeared in 11 games and racked up 37 tackles, had five pass breakups, and was also credited with 2.5 tackles for loss.

Of his visit, Gerald told Gamecock Central recruiting insider Wes Mitchell, “Coach (Torrian) Gray and Coach (Shane) Beamer told me about how to use the opportunities that are there for me to be able to try and work my way to get on the field. Of course, two brothers at the same school, that would be great, but I’m just going through the process and trying to figure out what’s best for me.”
Well, a week later and what’s best for Gerald Kilgore appears to be joining his brother Jalon in Columbia. And like Jalon, Gerald has three years of eligibility remaining.
