Video: Dowell Loggains already building relationships with South Carolina players, recruits

It’s officially official. Dowell Loggains has been named South Carolina’s new offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach after his contract was approved Tuesday by USC’s Board of Trustees.
Loggains brings 15 years of coaching experience to Columbia after spending the past two seasons as Arkansas’ tight ends coach. During his short time with the Razorbacks, he was regarded as one of the program’s top recruiters.

Before his time in Fayetteville, Loggains spent 13 years coaching in the NFL. He brings plenty of experience as an offensive coordinator, having stints as OC for the Tennessee Titans, Chicago Bears, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets.
According to team sources, Loggains has already been in contact with several Gamecock players and recruits. Those sources indicated to Gamecock Central that Loggains has expressed his desire to be a team that throws the football and how he plans on helping the offense grow.

“This guy is legit,” one player said after speaking with him. “I can see why people say he’s a good recruiter. Just talking with him for a couple minutes he got me fired up.”
“We’re not dumb. We see what people are (negativity) saying about (Loggains),” another player said. “But honestly after speaking with him and hearing what he wants to do offensively, I can see why coach Beamer wanted him here.”

Loggains replaces Marcus Satterfield, who accepted a position with Nebraska just over two weeks ago. He becomes the five Gamecocks OC since 2016. Since then, no USC OC has lasted more than two seasons with the Gamecocks.
