Video: OL Blake Franks commits to South Carolina over Clemson, Alabama
Just when you thought South Carolina had already added enough beef to their offensive line, they continue to add some more with another commitment for the class of 2024. Who also had already called the Palmetto State home.
6-foot-5, 315-pound offensive lineman Blake Franks from Greenville, SC has committed to play for Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks. A three-star prospect, landing Franks is a big one for USC for several reasons. Outside of what the interior offensive lineman brings to the table, he chooses the Gamecocks over a long list of power five schools. That list includes programs such as Clemson, Alabama, Miami, and North Carolina.

To say it was a group effort by this Gamecocks coaching staff would be an understatement. According to Gamecock Central recruiting insider Chris Clark, newly promoted offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley built a strong relationship with Franks. In addition analyst Greg Adkins, director of personnel Taylor Edwards and player personnel/recruiting assistant Sam Serbay also played key roles in keeping Franks home.

And as we’ve said many times before with this year’s class, USC was towards the front when it came to offering him. In fact, the Gamecocks were the second SEC program to offer Franks and were nearly a month-and-a-half ahead of Clemson. It’s that loyalty and early interest that also helped USC land him.
Franks becomes the sixth prospect to commit to South Carolina’s 2024 class and the third from the state of South Carolina. Those other two in-state commits are four-star offensive lineman Kam Pringle from Dorchester, SC and four-star wide receiver Mazeo Bennett, who is also his teammate at Greenville.
