After leading South Carolina to seven wins in 2021, Shane Beamer has the Gamecocks headed back in the right direction.

It’s easy to look at that number seven – the number of wins USC had last year. Especially knowing that they had six wins combined in the two previous seasons before Beamer arrived.

But what goes into getting to that point and creating the buzz that we’re seeing now for this program?

“We really did become really close-knit and that will be key again this year as well,” said Beamer. “That was a close, close, close team… That was a group that truly cared about each other and loved one another and playing for one another. So I credit that and the competitive spirit and resiliency of the team that we had last year.”

We keep hearing that phrase love thrown around by South Carolina. It’s not just some used car salesmen pitch. The player’s are feeling it and it’s creating trust throughout the program

“I feel like everybody on this team is ready to play for (coach Beamer),” said tight end Jaheim Bell. “Once you have guys who want to play for their head coach and play for each other, that can just make your team just some more elite.”

In addition to Beamer and Bell, we caught up with MarShawn Lloyd and Alex Huntley.

“We had a lot of believers on the team,” said Lloyd. “A lot of people on the team that believed we could do it. The year before we were 2-8. We had a winning season. This year it won’t be a 7-6 year. I’m not gonna say what it’s gonna be so y’all will have to be there to watch. But, it’s gonna be a good year for us.
