Shane Beamer
Shortly after the golf outing ended, Shane Beamer led things off at the podium. The most noteworthy takeaway from his press conference was the disappointing news about Rick Sandidge. The senior defensive lineman is taking a medical hardship waiver. Beamer added, that means, “essentially his playing career here at South Carolina is done.”

Marcus Satterfield
Marcus Satterfield returns for his second season as offensive coordinator at South Carolina. This marks the first time since 2018-19 that the Gamecocks return this OC from the previous season. That consistency has brought a noticeable comfortably to the offense, said Satterfield.
“I think it’s huge for the receivers; it’s huge for the O-Line,” added Satterfield. “I think for the O-Line to not have to change all their calls for every single year for three years. For them to have all of the consistencies with the offense from last year, through the spring, through the summer, they’re gonna show very good improvement.”
Justin Stepp
For the past two preseasons, the lack of depth at wide receiver appeared to be a topic of concern. Heading into 2022, at least on paper, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Arguably one of the deepest skill position groups from a talent standpoint, Justin Stepp will face a problem that many coaches dream of.

“The number one thing is the cohesiveness of the group. I think we’re a close group,” said Stepp. “I think that’s kinda hard to get when you’re brining in new pieces like Antwane Wells (Jr.) and (Corey) Rucker. Sometimes that can cause tension but those guys have blended in really well. The older guys and the guys that have been here before have really welcomed those guys in.”

Sterling Lucas
Despite the departures of JJ Enagbare and Aaron Sterling, USC returns a pair of talent at edge who both go by the name of Jordan. Jordan Strachan and Jordan Burch are poised to have big seasons for the Gamecocks. While first-year edge coach Sterling Lucas hasn’t been in Columbia long, he’s been extremely impressed with Strachan.
“Just his edge. He has a chip on his shoulder,” said Lucas. “That’s the reason he came from Georgia State to the SEC to prove that he could play on the highest level. So just his edge but he’s a very good pass rusher having 10.5 sacks two years ago at Georgia State.”
