With the win, the Gamecocks improve to 34-0 on the season and extend their winning streak to 40 straight dating back to last season.
South Carolina will now await the winner of Monday night’s matchup between 4th seeded UCA and 5th seeded Oklahoma. USC will play that game on Saturday in Greenville, SC.

Now as I mentioned, this is the tenth time the Gamecock shave reached the Sweet 16 since 2012 but if you remove the 2020 COVID-19 season, which canceled the NCAA Tournament, this marks the ninth straight time that USC has made it at least this far. They’ll now look to advance to the Elite Eight for the seventh time in program history.
Dawn Staley has now led South Carolina to ten of their 13 Sweet 16 appearances. The other three came in 1982, 1990, and 2002. Susan Walvius is the only other USC coach to led the Gamecocks to an Elite Eight (2002).

South Carolina dominated the third quarter to pull away from USF and advance to the Sweet 16 with a 76-45 win.
The Gamecocks trailed 16-12 after the first quarter and led just 33-29 at halftime. Then a 13-4 run to start the second half changed the complexion of the game for good. As is usually the case for the Gamecocks, it started on the defensive end.
