Video: South Carolina women's basketball not shying away from high expectations
South Carolina Women’s Basketball: News • Recruiting • Schedule • Roster • Stats • SEC • Polls • Scholarships
It wasn’t a matter of if, but rather how long would South Carolina women’s basketball have to wait before learning that they had earned the No.1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
On Sunday night, it became official that the Gamecocks’ road to the National Championship will begin at Colonial Life Arena and will work its way through Greensboro, the region USC has been awarded the No.1 seed in.
Dating back to last season, we knew how special this talented group was going to be. Despite losing in the SEC Tournament championship, South Carolina has been ranked No.1 by the AP and the Coaches Poll all season and head into the big dance with just two losses, the fewest by any team in the nation.

“You feel it. No matter how much you talk about it or don’t talk about it, it’s there,” admitted Dawn Staley. “We talk about winning a national championship. These last couple of days we said, ‘if you want to win a national championship there are things that we need to get better at. And we’ve said it probably every day that we’ve practiced.”
