Video: What Dante Reno has been working on with his game

In the midst of his junior season, South Carolina commit Dante Reno continues to see progress in his game.
“My ability to run is the biggest thing,” Reno said on GC Live: Talking Tuesday Nights. “If you go back and watch last year’s tape versus this year’s tape, just my ability to escape the pocket when things break down. Just having the ability in my back pocket if I need it. And honestly, just mentally and physically having another year in the new system. Just being able to read defenses better with my dad’s help and all the help I have around me. It’s been a fun season so far.”

Off to a strong start this season, Reno says committing to South Carolina has helped him out a lot.
“I don’t have to worry about all of the recruiting stuff. I’m doing all of the recruiting I can for South Carolina and I don’t have to worry about other schools hitting me up about recruiting. There’s a lot of FaceTime with players, coach (Shane) Beamer, coach (Marcus) Satterfield, coach (Pete) Lembo, coach (Nick) Coleman and coach (Justin) Stepp too.”

It’s that commitment by Reno and other Gamecock recruits that will hopefully lead to South Carolina landing another prospect soon.

“We’re hoping we’re gonna have a big time commitment coming soon. Our commitment (class) has done a really good job of recruiting kids. That’s what the other recruits are starting to see that coach Beamer is building a player-led program. Kids are recruiting the kids and if the kids don’t feel like they can fit in then they’re not gonna come here. I think that’s what (Beamer) wants the program to be built on.”
Through the highs and lows, fans often get worried about what recruits see on Twitter. If you’re worried about what @Billy730476302378 has to say about the team in the middle of a game or week, Reno said you shouldn’t be.

“The fanbase is super strong. If they didn’t have an opinion they wouldn’t say it at all. They wouldn’t show up and sellout every game this season at Williams-Brice Stadium. All of the Gamecock fans are really passionate about the Gamecocks and yeah you see it as a recruit but I’m committed to them. I kinda know the truths and the lies that goes along with Twitter and social media. I don’t really say too much and the coaches don’t really say too much. They don’t really look into it that much. I don’t think many of the coaches are active on Twitter right now expect for coach Beamer after the Kentucky win. But as a commit, no, I’ve talked with Pup Howard and the other commits. They don’t really see it as a negative. (We see it as) just how passionate the fanbase is, especially after the last win.”
