Video: What Marcus Satterfield learned in his first season as OC at South Carolina
A day after South Carolina held their first spring practice, the Gamecocks were back to work holding a walk-thru on Wednesday. Following the walk-thru, offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield and defensive coordinator Clayton White met with the media.
While the focus with Satterfield was looking ahead about this year’s team, the OC was candid about what he learned about himself last season.
“I’ve learned that there’s more than one way to do things,” admitted Satterfield. “I’ve learned that communication is crucial. I’ve learned to be patient.”
Having gone through rebuilds before during his time at Temple and Baylor, Satterfield knew there would be challenges in last season but he’s been able to turn it into a learning experience.

“I knew last year there was gonna be some struggles. I think that helped me with some of the hard times but i came out of this season, personally, I grew a lot as a coach just from the communication and compassion. I don’t know everything; leaning on people and leaning on my coaches more. Our assistant coaches are unbelievable to put up with me most of the time. They were always there, they always had my back and rallied (behind me). Just how we finished the year and how we’ve transitioned into the spring.”
South Carolina will hold practice No.2 Thursday morning.
