Video: What's next for Mazeo Bennett after decommitting from Tennessee

After less than two months of being committed to Tennessee, 4-star wide receiver Mazeo Bennett has decommitted from the Vols. Now, it leaves questions as to what’s next for the Greenville, SC native.

Listed as the No.3 prospect in South Carolina for the class of 2024, Bennett committed to Tennessee back in October. As recently as shortly after USC played the Vols, Bennett told On3, “I’m with Tennessee. Gamecock Central has learned that throughout Bennett’s commitment with the Vols, both the Gamecocks’ coaching staff, as well as future Gamecock commits, have been persistent with getting the Upstate star to flip his commitment.

So, with Bennett decommiting from Tennessee, where does this put the Gamecocks in the mix to land him? Well, let’s just say they’re certainly heavily in the mix. It was South Carolina who was the first Power 5 school to offer Bennett. He also has family ties with the university as his sister attends u-s-c, as he’s told on3 in the past…

Rated as the 20th wide out for the class of 2024, Bennett stands at just shy of 6-feet tall, 175 pounds. On3 has him listed as an athlete but just like Tennessee, USC has recruited him to play wide receiver

Gamecock Central has been told that while there’s no set timetable in place, Bennett could make an announcement with his commitment in January. But again, the situation remains fluid.

At this time, quarter Dante Reno remains the only other class of 2024 prospect to go public with his commitment to the Gamecocks.
