WBB: South Carolina center to miss Top 10 matchup
The No. 3 South Carolina women’s basketball team will be without reserve center Sakima Walker tonight when the Gamecocks take on No. 9 TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.
The official Twitter/X account for the team posted an update moments before the game saying Walker is nursing an ankle injury.
Walker, a 6-foot-5 senior, has played in six games for Carolina this year and is averaging 1.0 points per game. She has six total rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
Walker played a season-high 7 minutes in the UCLA game.
The 2023 NJCAA D1 Player of the Year at Northwest Florida State, Walker joined the Gamecocks last year and was a reserve in the post on the undefeated run to a national championship.
