One week after debuting on ESPNU last Wednesday, Episode 2 of “Welcome Home: South Carolina Football” will air tonight at 7 p.m. on ESPNU.
The all-access five-part video series on Gamecock Football is designed to give fans behind-the-scenes access to second-year head coach Shane Beamer, the program’s assistant coaches, players, and staff, as they prepare for the 2022 season.
Judging by the preview for Episode 2, this week’s episode will provide an in-depth look at the Gamecocks’ start to preseason camp on the first week of August.
That preview showed South Carolina Executive Director of Character and Player Development Derrick Moore discussing the players officially arriving for the start of camp.
“Today is the first day of report day and the guys have worked really hard over the summer, all the way back to January,” Moore said. “We adopt a theme every year and (this year) it’s built around, ‘Lights, camera, action.'”
It also featured Gamecock “super senior” offensive lineman Eric Douglas sitting with some family members and talking about one of the family members having to go in an ambulance.
University of South Carolina Athletics, in a partnership with JM Associates and Executive Producer and president of Sport & Story Bo Mattingly, is producing the 30-minute show which will air each Wednesday for five total weeks at 7 on ESPNU.

Camera crews have been embedded in team practices, meetings and behind-the-scenes activities inside the program.
“This show will give our fans a look at the hard work our team goes through to prepare for the season,” Beamer said. “My hope is that as you watch our team play during the season, fans will have an appreciation of what goes into a season, a game and a practice.”
Beamer is in his second season as the Gamecocks’ football coach, earning the Steve Spurrier First-Year Co-Coach of the Year presented by the Football Writers Association of America and Chris Doering Mortgage, given to the nation’s top first-year head coach at a school.
As some Gamecock fans learned last week, the show is apparently not on ESPN+ which means fans will need to set their DVRs or streaming services to record the show if they’re unable to watch it live.
