South Carolina TE Trey Knox strikes free agent agreement with NFL team
Former South Carolina tight end Trey Knox has agreed to an undrafted free agent agreement with the Minnesota Vikings, according to his agency, Milk & Honey Sports.
Plagued by injuries in his lone season with the Gamecocks, Knox still managed to impressive teams with his hybrid skill set for a tight end. Standing at 6-3, 234 pounds, Knox demonstrated the ability to not only be physical as a blocker but he also makes showed off smooth cuts like a wide out. A position that he initially played when he first arrived at Arkansas.

This past season with South Carolina, Knox appeared in ten games and caught 37 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns. For his career, he played in 55 games with 39 starts catching 118 career passes for 1,204 yards and 11 touchdowns, He becomes the first Gamecocks tight end drafted since Nick Muse, who was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

In an interview with The DraftNetwork leading up to the draft, Knox credited transferring to South Carolina for his uptick in production because of how they used him. He also went on to say, “I think it was the best decision I could have made. I thought it was time for a change of scenery, time for a new experience. I’m glad I made the decision. I made relationships at South Carolina that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life. I played with some really good players. I also got to play again for my favorite coach (Dowell Loggains) that I’ll probably ever play for. That’s not a bad trade-off.
