On Wednesday, South Carolina offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains and defensive coordinator Clayton White met with the media to preview this weekend’s matchup with Ole Miss. Here’s what they had to say.

Dowell Loggains

— Most of the sacks are coming up on third down. You go back and watch why it happened. You evaluate every position on those plays. You work to correct it.

— Goal is to score more points than the other team on offense. They’re running the ball better. There’s definitely areas of improvement. All the focus is on ole miss and playing to their strengths.

— The bye week becomes so much more about getting healthy. You’re constantly learning what the players do well. There’s only so many situations you can put them in practice. Confidence is born through demonstrated ability.

— Likes all five of his quarterbacks. Proud of the way Robby Ashford played against Akron. He did his job. Excited about the way him and Sellers have played. Reaffirms Sellers is their quarterback. But they expected Ashford to play the way he did against Akron. Davis beville came in and played well as well.

— Big opportunity to come home and take on one of the best football teams in the country. Ready to rock and roll.

— The tempo system ole miss runs is productive. Guys need to get lined up fast and get calls in. It’s important to get on the same page as fast as they possibly can.

— Kentucky’s game plan worked to perfection and kept Ole Miss off the field. They ddi a really good job of tackling.

— The quicker South Carolina gets to the quarterback the more time they have to make a play. Ole Miss can beat you with short passes and long passes and they do a good job of making you miss.

— They work on tempo on defense every week. You have to really work it at practice.

— Jaxson Dart has a nice skillset. Ole Miss does a good job of using his mobility. He’s similar to like a Josh Allen that can beat you with his feet and throw.

— To limit the big plays, they need to stay on top of playing the ball. The pressure and the coverage go hand-in-hand.

— Kentucky did a good job of slowing the game down against Ole Miss. Anticipates things being much faster this weekend. Can’t be surprised by certain things. Need to be ready for everything.

— It’s hard to change a ton of your offense. At this point in the season, you can come up with a couple new plays. But teams want to be themselves and focus on themselves.

— The coaching staff looks at targets and try to figure out who the quarterbacks like throwing to. You can’t focus on one receiver like Tre Harris in this offense for Ole Miss. You have to prepare for everything because the Rebels have great receivers in general.

— Juice Wells is a competitive football player. Really good receiver.
