What Shane Beamer said after loss versus Georgia
After South Carolina’s 24-14 loss versus No. 1 Georgia, head coach Shane Beamer met with the media to discuss the team’s performance.
Here’s everything he had to say.

Beamer congratulates Georgia. They showed what a championship team looks like. Proud of his players for fighting their butts off. Wasn’t surprised at all by the first half success.
Had four keys to the game and one of them was making Georgia earn it. They didn’t do that in the second half. Lots of issues with penalties and miscues that were costly. Didn’t play clean football and that’s frustrating.
South Carolina helped Georgia in a lot of ways, which is frustrating. Beamer is more convinced than ever about what kind of a team he has. Had a chance to compete and win in the fourth quarter. Proved they are a much better football team than they were two weeks ago in Charlotte.

Beamer said they did the same stuff on defense in the second half. Need to stop the run a little better. No complaints with holding them to 24 points.
Disappointed by the penalties on offense during the pre-snap. Proud of the offensive line, especially with the freshmen stepping up.
Update on Juice Wells: Going to let him see a specialist on Tuesday. Doesn’t think it’s season-ending and something that he can play with.
Should’ve gotten Trovon Baugh in the game more. Tough, competitive, physical. Told him in the locker room that he should’ve played him more. Proud of TJ Sanders for the way he played in the game.

Calls Spencer Rattler “a dude.” Wouldn’t trade him for any quarterback in the world. Knows the second half wasn’t great but gave them a chance to win. Special player, great poise throughout the game.
They knew Georgia would respond and come back in the second half. Expected to be in that position with the lead going into halftime. Knew they could be a team that could get better as the game moved along.

Wasn’t going to go on a rant like he did two years ago but harped on the fact that Georgia’s defense is extremely good and hard to put good runs together against.
Tyreek Johnson got hurt at the end of last week’s game. Thought he would be able to play going into this week. Should get him, JT Geer, Ahmarean Brown back next week for Mississippi State.

David Spaulding and Nick Emmanwori played the whole game and played their guts out.
Been here before at 1-2. There’s a lot of disappointment with a chance to win the game and not coming out on top but there’s a lot of excitement for the rest of the season.
Thought the tackling was good overall, especially in the early going. Georgia had 79 offensive plays. Just need to finish better and create turnovers and attacking the ball.
Losing Juice wasn’t ideal but a lot of younger receivers stepped in and did their job. Felt like they made strides from an offensive line standpoint. Not patting themselves on the back but knows they’ve made strides as a team.
Thinks South Carolina-Georgia is a natural rivalry. Knows they’ll play each other again at some point in the future.
He didn’t learn much about this team because they knew they were going to come in and win this game. Just couldn’t finish.
