What Shane Beamer said after South Carolina's win over No. 5 Tennessee
South Carolina secured one of the biggest wins in recent program history on Saturday, beating No. 5 Tennessee 63-38.
With the win, the Gamecocks improve to 7-4 and 4-4 in the SEC.
Here are some the highlights from Beamer’s post game press conference:

-Beamer started the presser off by making fun of all the media’s predictions and how they were likely all wrong
-“Great night for the university…city…state…everybody”
-Beamer on the performance: “I’ve been saying it every week, we have good football team and we showed it tonight.”
-“Good football teams have bad nights and bad stretches … last couple games haven’t been pretty”
-Said he told the team stories about the how there were multiple NFL teams who had bad stretches and turned it around and got better.
-“We played bad the last couple weeks but the team came back to work every single week and get better”
-Said he was “so happy” for the seniors, added that Eric Douglas told the team last night that he had a dream where they won and the fans stormed the field.
-Talked to the team on Tuesday and said that no one else gets to write the script of this team: “Its a new Carolina guys, we get to write the story…I know what that teams about in that locker room”
-Beamer on the offense matchups: “It’s all about competition and the way that the Tennessee plays defense we knew WR/TE would have one on one matchups”
-Despite being down the top two RB’s, they were able to give players on the perimeter opportunities to make plays and “they never stopped it”

-Joked he wasn’t even sure if his family picked USC to win
-Beamer on Spencer Rattler: “I saw the guy that he is…he was on, you talk about players being in the zone, he was in the zone”
-Added that Satterfield was also in the zone with the way he was calling plays
-Mindset on offense was going in was to attack: “You weren’t gonna win punting on fourth down and not being aggressive”
-Said calls in all three phases weren’t passive
-Losing Nick Emmanwori was a “huge loss” but Peyton Williams, who they were trying to redshirt, stepped up and played great
-Beamer said in Tennessee’s game last week their opponent punted five times on 4th and 5 or less: “told our team that we aren’t punting five times in that situation”
-“We wanted to be aggressive, word we used all week was attack…they’re a hard team to stop, with our depth issues on defense we couldn’t stay on the field.”
-Beamer joked that all his daughter wanted for Christmas was to storm the field
-“Santa will still bring them something but her mom and dad are good”
-More on the field storm: “That was a lot of years of our fan base waiting to do that…not just since I’ve been here”
-Said he told Kirk Herbstreit and Chris Fowler that the last time the three of them were all in Willy B was when they beat Alabama in 2020: “Special to be part of both of those”
-Added that they have some recruits celebrating in the locker room with them.

-Beamer on Satt: “To be without MarShawn and CBS tonight, it’s impressive…we’ve been close…it hasn’t been good enough at times…but proud of how Satt did this week and it’s a special night.”

-Joked that it’s a good problem to run out of touchdown fireworks
-Beamer on Juice Wells: “He’s a problem for people”
-“Columbia, S.C. and Willy B at night is a challenge for any opponent.”
-“Didn’t expect to win by 25 and score 63 points but still felt really good coming in to the game…we weren’t shocked at the first half result, it’s what we expected to do.”
-Hope’s Hendon Hooker’s injury isn’t too serious
-Beamer said the atmosphere definitely helped tonight
-Said he’s confident they can take the momentum into play next week: “We didn’t do it last week, but Kentucky was not an easy environment (and we did it then)”
-Beamer on Josh Vann: “Happy for all the seniors but him especially…he’s a great young man…matured so much…he’s a special young man really happy for him.”
-Ray Tanner joked that we had to pay part of the fine to leave the press conference tonight
-Beamer on offense: “Hate that it took until game 11 to explode like we did tonight but I think we saw what we can be…there will be negatives from this game and we know we can get a lot better.”
-“We had a bad stretch…during that four game winning stretch knew it wasn’t always pretty as well…no turnovers tonight…hadn’t done a good enough job of that tonight.”
-Beamer on Dakereon Joyner: “Played well in all the ways he played…so happy for how he played”
-Beamer on seniors as a whole: “Proud of the fact that they came back when they didn’t have too…for them to come back and be so committed, really happy for those guys, especially Joyner”
-Said he told a bunch of the players who walked for senior night and have an extra year to come back so they can do it again next year
-Beamer praised Jaheim Bell for all the different way he collected stats tonight. Said they weren’t force feeding him and that he’s a really talented football player.
-Beamer joked that he couldn’t find his kids after the field storm
-Talked about how his wife and kids make a lot of sacrifices: “They can’t isolate after big losses like I can…so being with them for this big win was great…they’re a part of this”
