What Shane Beamer said after win over Furman
After South Carolina’s 47-21 win over Furman, head coach Shane Beamer met with the media to discuss the team’s performance.
Here’s everything the third-year head coach had to say.

Beamer thanked the Cockpit, South Carolina’s student section, for showing up big. Fans were awesome tonight. He’s excited to see what the crowds are like when SEC play ramps up at Williams-Brice Stadium.
Didn’t expect to give up a double pass in double coverage to start the game. Points out this happened against ECU in 2021.
Beamer thought the end of the first half from the offense was huge for the momentum. Scored two touchdowns in 43 seconds, which was huge.
Points out Spencer Rattler’s awareness of the clock to be able to put together solid drives with under a minute left in the first half. Calls him a special talent, more so an elite talent.
It was awesome to get a lot of young guys tonight. Nyck Harbor came over after his touchdown to thank Beamer. Beamer responded by saying thank you for coming to South Carolina.

Really disappointed with the way the game ended. South Carolina turned the ball over, had a penalty and allowed a touchdown in the final minutes. Have a lot to prove heading into Georgia next week.
Ahmarean Brown pleaded to come back into the game but Beamer wouldn’t let it happen. Brown is dealing with a hamstring injury.
He thought they did some good things in the run game but were sloppy with penalties. Thought the offensive line protected well. Three true freshmen played on the line and did a very good job. Have to block better on the perimeter.
The goal early in the game was to run the ball and get it on the perimeter. They had some down field throws called but it didn’t work out. Knew they needed to run past Furman at some point. As the game goes, they would take their shots and certainly did.

Beamer thought LaNorris Sellers looked “pretty, dang good.” The 50-yard touchdown pass he had was really impressive to see. Calls him a gamer, the moment isn’t too big for him. Didn’t have a chance to say much to him but called him giddy after throwing the touchdown.
Had some elite high school juniors and seniors on the recruiting side of things at the game tonight. Couldn’t be more excited about how recruitment is going so far.
Calls the Rattler-Legette connection fantastic. Legette practices his butt off and doesn’t take plays off. It helps Rattler because he knows he’s working as hard as he can.

The plan going in wasn’t to limit Juice Wells but he didn’t play as many snaps as expected.
Beamer said it was his decision to go big towards the end of the first half instead of kneeling and settling for a six-point lead. Told Rattler it needs to be a bang-bang play and don’t screw around if they were going to score a touchdown before halftime. Trusts him and calls him a smart football player.
Thought Mario Anderson ran hard. Planned on getting him in last week but with the game went it was tough. Said he’s got great contact balance. He’s a guy that they need to find ways to get him into games.
Says Luke Doty works his tail off. Great throw, great catch on the Rattler-Doty touchdown in the second quarter. He’s a leader on the team and loves to compete. Has great chemistry with Rattler. Guy loves South Carolina. Whatever role he’s given, he embraces it. He wants what’s best for the football team. Glad he’s on the team and on South Carolina’s side. Must continue to develop depth in the receivers room.
The speed of the game will start ramping up next week with a matchup in Athens against Georgia.
