South Carolina coordinators Dowell Loggains, Clayton White, and Pete Lembo previewed Kentucky on Wednesday.

Dowell Loggains

– No plans on moving non-RBs to RB with the recent injuries to Juju McDowell and Dakereon Joyner.

– Credits the equipment staff for helping the players with battling through the elements this past weekend and having what they needed to perform better.

– Says O’Mega Blake continues to come along. Calls with a fast twitch player who keeps showing up to work each day wanting to get better

– Starting the same OL the past two weeks, Loggains could see a huge improvement with pass protecting

– Understands why his name is getting brought up with the Arkansas OC recently opening but his family is happy here and he believes what’s going on here. Adds that it would be disrespectful to the offensive players to take his focus away from them and what they’re trying to achieve.

– Loggains has been pushing LaNorris Sellers to ignore the outside noise all season. He shares that after the Vandy game, Sellers’ grandmother asked him, “You still think he sucks?” “Yes, ma’am,” Loggains replied. She responded by saying, “Good. Keep telling him that.”

– Says that when Sellers is out there, good things happen. He’s about the right stuff. He prepares the right way and that he’s a good player.

– Ten different players had catches for USC last week. Believes that when everyone plays a role, it keeps morale high. Adds that it also gives Spencer confidence when he doesn’t have to throw the ball to Xavier Legette all the time.

– For the past two weeks, Beamer has tweaked things around with the schedule leading up to game day. Shares that they’ve gone to see a few movies the day before the games and they’ve cutback on some the workload. Adds that the atmosphere at Williams-Brice is one of the best he’s ever been in so being at home always helps too.

Clayton White

– Began by thanking the fans who came out and battled the weather. He was impressed at how loud the stadium was despite the weather not being great.

– Says that, they “were due” for a game like that against Vanderbilt. Adds that confidence is always important and coming off a win definitely helps. Need to continuing doing a great job of preparing for Kentucky and attack come Saturday.

– On Kentucky RB Ray Davis: He’s a good SEC running back who has good balance through contact and a good stiff arm. Says he has a lot of good pieces around him that makes him standout even more.

– Winning the turnover battle remains a key goal. The message has been that turnovers don’t fall in your lap, you have to go out there and create them.

– Calls Bam Martin-Scott a really good athlete. Thinks that he’s been doing a really good job with their 3-3-5 package. Hopes they’ll continue to grow with that.

– The change with routine/schedule leading up to the game (that Loggains mentioned) has been good but says at the end of the day, the reason they had success last weekend is because they executed and played well between the white lines.

Pete Lembo

– Calls Keenan Nelson Jr. “reliable.” Adds that on his punt block he did exactly what he was coached and executed

– Mitch Jeter has been another player who has been reliable. Believes he has steadily gotten better every year.

– Shares that Shane Beamer is really good when it comes to taking important from coordinators. With some of the tweaks to the schedule (as mentioned by Loggains and White) it’s allowed them to take some players out of their comfort zone, which he believes has helped them over these past two weeks.

– Has been very pleased with Jalon Kilgore as a returner. Calls him a talented guy who has made the most out of his opportunities.

– Calls Kentucky a great example of a team that has a plan, has stuck to the plan, developed their guys, and played well week in and week out.
