South Carolina coordinators Marcus Satterfield and Clayton White each met with the media Wednesday afternoon.

The two recapped the Gamecocks’ thrilling 63-38 win over Tennessee and looked ahead to the big rivalry matchup against Clemson this Saturday. Here’s a recap of what each said.

Marcus Satterfield

–Said honestly that performance felt great. Said it felt even better for the guys. To have a game like that and play complementary football and watch those guys play as free as they did was really neat.

–They emphasized execution and playing the play and not paying attention to the scoreboard. Said guys weren’t thinking about it. Just kept saying, “What’s next?” Puts it all on the players and the way they executed Saturday.

–Doesn’t know if it ever hit him they’re clicking. Said he was always worried because Tennessee was getting the ball back and they can score quick. Said he didn’t realize how much they were scoring until he got back into the locker room.

–Spencer Rattler grinds and really goes week to week fixing things that needed to get fixed. He was “in the zone” and played his “*** off.”

–Tried to mainstream things as much as they could. Got plays together they thought guys could execute. Repped them all week in practice and guys played well. Said it’s the same mindset going up there to Clemson. Trying to get guys ready for a challenge of playing Clemson.

–Tremendous amount of things to improve on. Said there are a thousand things he and the players could do different and improve on. Always trying to fix issues.

–Jokes during the field storming he couldn’t find his daughter and spent the first few minutes trying to find her. Said he was never part of anything like that.

–In terms of why not sooner for this kind of offensive performance, jokes “Why can’t we come out and be perfect?” Mentions it’s a process and they have to stick with it and trust the process and keep working.

–Defensive line is super talented. The length and size is difficult to deal with. That’s an issue. Then they have a lot of knowledge on the back end. Team is going to have its hands full going into Clemson.

–“Very optimistic” that CBS and Lloyd can play. Hedges his bet that at least one will play.

–Rattler is “continuing to play” and not turning the ball over. Some interceptions early in the season were on him and some weren’t. The more he understands of the timing and understanding the offense helps.

–Said it was “very good” to see that offensive line performance. Nat Adkins in pass pro helped out a lot. Said it’s a big week to see if they could replicate that week to week. They haven’t done that yet.

–To him it’s all about the win. Said there are plays they could have made here and there but very proud of the performance and execution of the plan.

–Said the Vols really only had two big runs, both on the first drive. Said it’s going to try and be a building block but Clemson is a different team and guys have to execute the plan the way it’s presented.
