Dowell Loggains

– Liked a lot of the things they did but it wasn’t enough. Really liked the way the OL played after the changes they made up front coming out of the bye.

– The changes on the OL created better matchups for them to run the football, which was one of the reasons why they made the changes they did.

– Credits Vershon Lee for being selfless and moving from center to right tackle. Said it had an impact on other guys including Trovon Baugh who moved from right tackle to right guard. Called it Baugh’s best game.

– Calls Xavier Legette smart, tough, and dependable. Adds that his presence allows them to play younger players because he can help them when they’re out on the field

– What Loggains loves about Nyck Harbor is that he knows where he’s at and he keeps working. “He’s not there yet” but believes he’ll get there in time. Calls him selfless and that he can take hard coaching. He’s embracing the process.

– Calls Juju McDowell a pro. He keeps his mouth shut and keeps working hard. He does it every day and sets the standard.

– Loggains on being aggressive towards the end against Florida with just over 4:30 left: shared that they could’ve run the ball three times and trust the defense to get a stop or run what they believed were their best three plays. Shared an experience when he was the OC with the Bears and how they ran the ball three times in a similar situation and the Lions marched right down the field to win the game. They trust Rattler to make plays and liked the way the OL was playing at that point to throw it on second down.

Clayton White

– Could’ve done some things differently. Right now it’s about building the confidence up of the defensive players

– The way we finished the game is not the standard for any football team. Definitely not here.

– Players are taking this week as an opportunity to go out and prove they’re not as bad as they looked against Florida; taking it personal

– Asked about Emmanwori playing nickel, said it’s a combination of not just coverage in the passing game but what they believe can help stop the run as well. Added that it’s not just on one player.

– The pressures aren’t getting there which puts the DBs in a spot where they need to stay in coverage longer. Need to do a better job of making adjustments when those pressures aren’t getting there.

– White calls it a feel when deciding when to run a blitz/send pressure

Pete Lembo

– The confidence in Missouri’s special teams is growing. They’ve been more aggressive this year, which forces you to spend ore time on multiple looks they could throw at you

– Mizzou’s starting punter can rugby style punt; they’ve used two different punters this season

– Asked if the first kick against Florida was a “pooch” kick. Admits Mitch Jeter didn’t get all of it. From their, the timing was off and missed some tackles.

– Kai Kroeger has been inconsistent with his drops. They’ve been addressing that in practice while also trying not to work him into the ground so that his legs are dead by Saturday.

– Kroeger knows he needs to improve. He’s a dude. He’ll be just fine but he’s trying to address some of these inconsistencies

– There were nine kicks by Florida this past weekend. One of those kicks were low, which is the one South Carolina blocked

– Lembo doesn’t anticipate having any additional on-field coaching responsibilities following the news that Shane Beamer broke his foot. The only thing that has been different is that Beamer isn’t running around as much at practice.

– With Stone Blanton’s status for Saturday up in the air, Lembo shares that coaches are constantly talking up until the end of the week as to who’ll play on special teams to figure out who’ll be on the travel list. That’s a norm for every week. While that might not seem like a big deal, with how thin USC has already been at linebacker, any loss at LB will create a trickle down effect.
