Where Gamecocks athletics stacks up nationally in revenue, expenses
A report released by USA Today revealed that the South Carolina Gamecocks athletics department generated over $142 million in revenue during the 2022 fiscal year.
The figure ranked USC as 27th nationally in revenue, according to the report. The exact listed revenue figure was $142,210,807. The program’s “total expenses” were reported as $144,815,377, a difference of $1,086,848.

Those figures would slot USC tenth overall in the SEC. Alabama, which raked in over $214 during the 2022 fiscal year, was first in the conference in that metric. Missouri, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State all finished behind the Gamecocks in the revenue generation department.
Vanderbilt was not listed because of its status as a private institution. Additionally, the figures do not account for the forthcoming additions of Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC beginning in 2024.
