Where South Carolina sits in ESPN FPI after Oklahoma win
South Carolina might only be 4-3 right now, but people are taking notice of how well the Gamecocks have played throughout this season.
After a 35-9 win over Oklahoma on Saturday, South Carolina moved into ESPN’s FPI top 25. The Gamecocks are now ranked at No. 23 with an 11.1 FPI.
FPI, known as the Football Power Index, is a measure of a team’s strength and how they will perform for the rest of the season. ESPN uses 10,000 simulations of the remaining season to calculate a team’s FPI, which shows how many points above or below average they are.

With five games to go, the FPI projects South Carolina to finish somewhere between 6.9-5.1 wins. There’s a 4.9 percent chance the Gamecocks will win out but a 91.8 percent chance to reach six wins and become bowl eligible.
