Cedric Tillman became the second former Tennessee Volunteer wide receiver selected in this year’s NFL Draft, joining Jalin Hyatt. Tillman was selected with the 74th overall pick in the 3rd round by the Cleveland Browns.

Tillman, who was banged up throughout the 2022 season, catapulted up big boards after strong showings at the NFL Combine and his Pro Day.

Tillman’s selection comes with a lofty payday and a nice signing bonus as he heads to the Dawg Pound. The standout receiver is set to make $5,610,457 over four years with a guaranteed signing bonus of $1,080,332.

Tillman joins fellow teammates Darnell Wright, Hendon Hooker, and Jalin Hyatt as 2023 Draftees.

Looking back at Tillman’s career at Tennessee

Tillman got off to a slow start on Rocky Top after signing with the Vols as a member of the 2018 recruiting class. However, it clicked for Tillman once Josh Heupel’s offense arrived in 2021. The veteran received shined in 2021 with his biggest games coming against Alabama and Georgia.

Tillman caught 64 passes for 1,081 yards and 12 touchdowns in his fourth season on Rocky Top. Still, after the standout season, Tillman opted to return in 2022 to further improve his draft stock, but he was hit with a high ankle injury which required “tight-rope” surgery and sidelined him for multiple weeks.

Despite the injury, Tillman caught 37 passes for 417 yards and three touchdowns in 2022. His limited body of work, when healthy, still made an impression on scouts that allowed him feel confident enough to leave for this year’s draft.
