Tennessee football will be back in its ‘Dark Mode’ alternate uniform Saturday night against South Carolina. The Vols announced on social media on Monday that they would be wearing the black alternate uniform for the 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time kickoff at Neyland Stadium.

The Vols (3-1, 0-1 SEC) are coming off a 45-14 win over UTSA, bouncing back from the 29-16 loss at Florida on September 16. South Carolina (2-2, 1-1) beat Mississippi State at home Saturday night, after starting SEC play with a 24-14 loss at No. 1 Georgia.

Saturday night’s game against South Carolina will feature Tennessee’s fifth different uniform combination in as many games this season.

The Vols wore orange pants and orange jerseys in the win over UTSA on Saturday. They were in orange jerseys and white pants in the 49-13 win over Virginia on September 2 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville and wore their ‘Artful Dodger’ Smokey Grey alternate uniform in the 30-13 win over Austin Peay on September 9.

Tennessee wore white helmets, white jerseys and white pants in the 29-16 loss to Florida Saturday night at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville.

Tennessee Football’s ‘Dark Mode’ Uniform History

Tennessee’s ‘Dark Mode’ alternate uniform made its debut in the 44-6 win over Kentucky last October, as the Vols improved to a perfect 8-0 on the season. The uniform features a black helmet with a black facemask, with an orange helmet stripe and orange Power T logos on the sides. The black jerseys are feature orange numbers and the black pants feature two orange stripes.

Tennessee first introduced a black alternate uniform two years ago in a 45-20 win over South Carolina on October 9, 2021 at Neyland Stadium. The look included orange jerseys and orange pants but was paired with a white helmet, which had a black facemask and orange Power T’s and an orange helmet stripe, all trimmed in black.

The Vols also wear a Smokey Grey alternate as part of the Smokey Grey Series. Each season Tennessee will wear a new version of the Smokey Grey alternate as part of the Smokey Grey Series. The ‘Artful Dodger’ version worn this season paid homage to Condredge Holloway, featuring orange shoulders, a white outline around orange jersey numbers, two orange stripes on the grey pants and a thin orange helmet stripe and a grey facemask on the Smokey Grey helmet.
