Darrion Smith talks Tennessee visit and previews upcoming official
Tennessee had Vol commit Darrion Smith on campus last weekend unofficially and he will be back this weekend for his official visit. He loved the atmosphere for the Checker Neyland game against Florida.
“Shoot, my heart was just beating fast because there was a lot going,” Smith said of seeing the pageantry of Checker Neyland and the environment. “I loved it, though. It was great. It was a great feeling.”
Getting to see the Tennessee defense do its thing like it has all year was eye opening for Smith.
“It was an unbelievable experience,” Smith said. “It was a great game. The defense played a heck of a game. It was just an overall great experience.”
He got to hang out with the Tennessee staff and just talk to them about how the season is going and what has been happening in his life.
“When I got to talk to the coaches, it was more just chopping it up and seeing how they have been and how the family has been,” Smith said of this.
“I feel like it kind of has been more now. I am here now, but they aren’t going to stop recruiting me now that they have got me. They are just showing more love now.”

Colorado star heavy Heisman favorite
He visited Auburn a few weeks back and Tennessee has been on him to get back to campus, which is why he came back on his own dime last weekend. The Tigers are trying to work on him but he is still firm despite the trip.
“It has been solidified, but it was just a heck of a game,” the three-star said on where his commitment status stands. “I mean, I am committed, so I took a visit and went down there with my teammates, so yeah.”
He will be back this weekend but this visit will come with all the trimmings. It’s another chance to be around a place that sold him on being part of this place.
“I don’t know. I just love being down here, and I can’t wait to be back down here as much as possible,” Smith said, describing what he is most excited about with his upcoming official visit.
Smith is one of four official visitors this coming weekend.
