DB Sidney Walton 'extremely excited' to get his career started on Rocky Top after signing with Vols
Moody High School (Ala.) defensive back Sidney Walton committed to Tennessee in April, and he is officially a Vol after signing his letter of intent moments ago.
“I am extremely excited,” the three-star told Volquest of reaching this point. “I mean, it has been a long-time coming. I committed several months ago, so I am just excited and ready to take that next step.”
Walton’s journey on Rocky Top will get started later this month as he makes his way to campus for bowl practices, and as he gets his feet wet as a newcomer, he knows what he will focus on.
Home sweet home!

“I really just want to take in the speed of the game because I know that is the main difference from high school to college is the speed of the game is way different,” Walton said of this. “I will play my role when I get there and just do my best to keep growing and eventually become a dude for the Vols.”
Before heading North to Knoxville, Walton is in pursuit of a state championship. His team squares off against Montgomery Catholic on Thursday for the Class 5A title. Walton has accomplished a lot at Moody this fall, but being a vocal leader in his final season is something he is most proud of.

“I would say that I accomplished my role as being a leader and leading this team,” Walton said of this. “Being able to lead by example and help us get to where we are by taking what our coaches have said and leave me to say what we are going to do and need to do.”
Walton knows what it will take for his team to reach the top of the mountain and claim a state title.
“As a leader, you have to be vocal, so all of the leaders on our team need to say what needs to be done and enforce it,” Walton said of this. “As a team, we just have to be disciplined, and do what we have done to get to this point. I feel like if we take of that and do what we need to do this week, we will win state.”
The Scout on Walton
“Sidney Walton is a big, smooth defensive back prospect,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power told Volquest in April at the time of Walton’s commitment. “For starters, he has good size, checking in at 6-1.5, 190 pounds with plus length. He is a prospect that is much younger than really the majority of his peers in the 2025 cycle. Really from an age perspective, Sidney Walton should be a 2026 prospect. I think that kind of points to room for continued growth. I would not be surprised to see him continue to make strides physically and athletically over the next two years given that he is a full year behind most of the 2025 prospects. We have seen him play corner and in the slot for his high school team, and I think that has helped him out a good bit with cover skills and overall polish,” Power continued. “I think for a bigger safety, he kind of has the fluidity and overall technique you see in a corner prospect at times. I think that was validated when we saw him at the Atlanta Under Armour camp in February. I thought he did a good job in his backpedal and staying in phase with receivers and understanding route concepts.
