Brame Tenn

Derby High School (Ks.) elite tight end DaSaahn Brame is ready to get his career at Tennessee started. Moments ago, Brame put pen to paper at Derby High School in Kansas and is officially a Volunteer.

Brame had a stellar senior campaign, which featured him make plays all over the field, even as a punt returner.

“It was a pretty good season for me personally,” Brame said of his senior campaign. “It was a blessing, my coach letting me play all over the field and just trying to give me the ball in as many ways as possible, and one of those being punt return. It was kind of crazy doing that as a tight end. It was a lot of fun this year, and as a team, it went really well.”

Now, that his season is over, and he is officially signed as a Volunteer, he is excited about the next step in his journey as the recruiting process comes to an end.

“No doubt, there is some relief,” Brame said told Volquest of seeing the process conclude. “I mean, I have known since I flipped back in July that Tennessee was where I wanted to go. I am honestly glad I can finally think about coming up there and starting practices. I can finally stay true to my word and get up there and go to work.”

As Brame gets to work on Rocky Top, he is excited to start to build a bond with his teammates and get to know more about the members of the 2025 class.

“Honestly, I am excited because it will be a new atmosphere for me coming from Kansas,” he said of this. “Just meeting my new teammates and and some of the kids in my class. Just getting to bond with them a little closer and getting to experience what a college athlete is like at Tennessee.

The Scout on Brame

“DaSaahn Brame is a talented tight-end prospect who excels as a pass catcher. I think he has a good combination of size and athleticism. He measured in at 6-4.5, 220 pounds this off-season. He is one that excels at working up the seam. We see him primarily line up at the high school level flexed into the slot. He creates a mismatch when he draws linebacker or safeties working into the middle of the fields. He had a productive Junior season playing at Derby, one of the top programs in Kansas. He had 942 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. Scored a touchdown on one out of every four catches. He is a guy, who I think, looking at his skillset, reminds me of Holden Staes coming out of high school. I think he is probably a better pass catcher. I think physically they are similar and would probably play similar roles in Tennessee’s offense. When I look at Brame, his real strength right now is to separate down the seam, elevate, and show a good catch radius, and I think his ability after the catch is a positive as well. We see him rip off some long runs as a Junior. I think he has shown he can come down with contested catches, and I think that is encouraging. He is not the longest in terms of his arm length, but I think with his coordination, his stature, he is able to mitigate that, in terms of his catch radius.”- On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power
