Breaking 4-star Lb Jaedon Harmon Flips From Bama To Tennessee In A Move That Keeps The Vols Rolling

Tennessee continues to thrive on the recruiting trail. One day after landing 5-star David Sanders, the Vols flipped Alabama commit Jaedon Harmon to their 2025 class. Before making it official, Harmon sat down to talk about it with Volquest.

“Tennessee is probably the most visited school I’ve been to,” Harmon said. “I’ve always felt the vibe and the welcoming there. My mom has always loved it. Just coach Heupel. I’ve been in a lot of contact with him. Him and coach Inge. I can tell they are really good people and care about me and my best interest. They want to take me to the next level. I just felt like it was the best decision for me and best opportunity.”

Harmon called Josh Heupel on Friday to let him know the news and the top Vol was pumped. They have been talking a lot the last few months and it paid off.

“Coach Heupel is a great dude,” Harmon said. “He texts me just about every day and checks in on me. You can tell he really cares about you as a player and stuff like that.”

Harmon was big on Tennessee early in the process but when Brian Jean Mary left for Michigan, it was a blow to their chances. That’s when he locked things in with Alabama, but new Tennessee linebacker’s coach William Inge just kept chipping away at him.

“He just has a great personality,” Harmon said. “I love being around him and talking to him. He is really a football genius to be honest with you. He knows what he is doing and you can just look at his pedigree and where he has been. He’s a great coach.”

Inge worked hard to flip Harmon.

A veteran coach that is very thorough, Inge impressed Harmon with his history of coaching the position. Their conversations were some football and some life.

“Just his knowledge of the game and making stuff not so complex and making it where I can make plays and play fast,” Harmon said. “I feel like most of our conversations are just about life. How I’m doing and what I’ve been up to. What they are doing and what events they are having. It’s not always about football with him.”

So what is Tennessee getting in the Rome, Georgia linebacker?

“I’m a relentless competitor,” Harmon said. “I play sideline to sideline. I come to hit every play. I just feel like that’s the missing part of the defense. I’m a leader and I’m going to bring everything to the table 100% every play.”

Rome will kickoff their season on August 30th and having his decision behind him allows him to focus on his final season.

“It means a lot,” Harmon said. “It’s been on my mind a lot and I haven’t really been able to think straight. Now that I’m fully locked in with my decision, it just relieves a lot of stress and lets me play.”
