Josh Heupel: Vols getting a 'dynamic playmaker' in RB Daune Morris
Oakland High School (Tenn.) standout running back Daune Morris was one of Tennessee’s 2025 signees announced on Wednesday to start the early signing period. The electric running back prospect flipped from USC to Tennessee in the days leading up to the signing period, and he was one the Vols were excited to add to the class.
“Daune, somebody that we’ve had our eye on for a long time,” Tennessee Head Coach Josh Heupel said during Wednesday’s press conference. “And just getting an opportunity as this season continued to go on to be able to communicate with his family more, just building a relationship. They had a great official visit here a few weeks ago. And he’s a dynamic playmaker. You see that with the ball in his hands out on the perimeter, return, playing the running back position. Unique skill set, extremely athletic, great short-area quickness. In some ways, it kind of reminds you of a young (Dylan Sampson), just his ability to do so much. And we couldn’t be more excited to get him here.”

It’s a different feeling and a different experience when you can come to a home game in your own home state and everyone know your face. It’s different and it can take me a long way.”
The Scout on Morris
“Well, first off, he is a hard worker and loves football,” Oakland High School Head Coach Kevin Creasy told Volquest. “He loves practicing football. He loves competition and because of that, he’s really good at running back, but he’s also a good receiver. Then the things he does when he doesn’t have the ball in his hands make him really special. He’s one of the most physical guys on our team, and he has even been known to jump in and play some defense and special teams for us.
