How it happened: Tennessee throttles Morehead State 23-4
Tennessee improved to 12-3 on the season after hammering the baseball all night long against Morehead State. The Vols tied a program record for home runs with seven bombs in this contest. Kavares Tears got his first start and shined, while Dylan Dreiling hit for the cycle and Chase Dollander punched out 11 batters and earned the win for his third of the season.
Tennessee managed to get work for 17 players to start the weekend non-conference slate. The Vols will look to carry this momentum throughout the weekend series and over into SEC play next week.

Bottom 1st: After Maui Ahuna and Christian Moore earned walks, Zane Denton drove in Ahuna to plate the Vols first run of the day. Jared Dickey grounded out to 2nd but brought Moore in to extend the lead to 2-0.

Bottom 3rd: Zane Denton leads off the inning by crushing a ball into right center field for the Vols second home run of the day. Jared Dickey follows up the Denton blast with a solo shot of his own. Griffin Merritt is HBP and Dylan Dreiling drives him with a two-run bomb. Kavares Tears smashed a ball over the right field fence for his first HR as a Vol.

Top 4th: Moore Head State made their way on the scoreboard with a two-run blast from Nick Gooden. The homer came after Roman Kuntz singled up the middle for the Eagles first hit of the day.

Bottom 4th: Kavares Tears continued to his hot day in his first start as a Vol by driving in Jared Dickey with an RBI single up the middle. Tears started 3-3 through for innings of play.

Bottom 5th: Zane Denton continued his big night with a two-RBI single, driving in Maui Ahuna and Christian Moore. With no outs in the inning, Jared Dickey reached second after a fielding error that allowed Blake Burke to score. Griffin Merritt had an two-RBI single that scored Zane Denton and Jared Dickey.

Bottom 6th: Tennessee posted another five-run inning in the bottom of the 6th. Christian Scott provided the fireworks for the inning with a three-run, no-doubt home run. Zane Denton also hammered a two-RBI triple and gave him the cycle for the day.

Bottom 7th: Tennessee kept the bats going in the bottom of the 7th inning. After a walk to start the inning, Maui Ahuna drove one over the left field fence for his second home run of the day.

Top 8th: Morehead State managed to find another run late in this one as Jackson Feltner, the OVC preseason player of the year, sent a solo shot over the left center field fence.
